Most outbreaks and individual cases of Norovirus-associated gastroenteritis occurring around the world are still caused by a specific genotype of the virus. This genotype keeps on producing particularly virulent new strains by means of an influenza-like antigenic drift. By rapid replication, evolution and selection, members of this genotype mutate at fairly regular intervals of 2 to 3 years to form new strains, which becomes noticeable through increased outbreak activity.

Throughout Europe meat products have been found containing horse meat, although the products presumably were made from 100% beef.

Many laboratories are now facing the question to test meat and meat products for the presence of horse meat. The most reliable and sensitive test to detect horse meat in raw as well as processed meat products is a PCR based test.

We are proud to launch the new sandwich ELISA RIDASCREEN®FAST Soya (R7102) to detect the typical allergenic soya proteins not only in native but also in heated food samples. This Sandwich ELISA is suitable for both matrix types.

The soybean (Glycine maxima) from the legume family consists of about 35% proteins and is therefore a great plant source of protein for human consumption. It is often used to produce oil, but also to produce soya sauce, soya milk, tofu, miso, and tempeh or soya lecithin as an emulsifier.
Nowadays more and more soya products reach the supermarket. Parallel to this worldwide more and more soya allergies appear. This fact and the laws make a measurement of soya traces in food essential. Soya belongs to the so called “Big 8” allergens and following the food labeling directive soya has to be labeled as ingredient if used in food worldwide.
